Maronti beach

Maronti, the island’s biggest beach

Ischia's biggest beach is in the south of the island: Maronti. This enchantingly beautiful bay, surrounded by hills and overlooking the open sea, takes its name from the encounter between sea and mountains (“ mare e monti”).

With good public bus connections, this 2.5-km beach is also accessible on foot from the village of Sant’Angelo or by taxi boat. Maronti offers a broad selection of private lidos, free beaches, restaurants, bars, hot springs, skate hire, surfing and canoeing.

There are two thermal caves that can be visited from the beach: Olmitello and Cava Scura, which contain hot water springs and ancient Roman baths. At the far western tip of Maronti, near Sant’Angelo, are the thermal fumaroles, where you can inhale the beneficial sulphuric vapours or savour various dishes cooked beneath the sand.
